Hot Flashes, weight gain, mood swings, belly fat and sleepless nights – good times! Peri-menopause (or “the change before the change”) is the period of time leading up to menopause and occurs generally between the ages of 38 and 55. This transitional time is often wrought with unpleasant changes both physically and mentally that can wreak havoc on a woman’s life.

Out of the blue, we get knocked off our game by a constellation of symptoms we don’t understand that have zapped our energy and our self confidence – no wonder our libidos are MIA! Common hormonal symptoms such as weight gain, mood swings, poor digestion, brain fog, insomnia, hot flashes and the most bothersome symptom of all, abdominal bloat and belly fat, or what I like to call, the infamous menopausal middle, are challenging at best but also completely normal. They are all just natural reactions to fluctuating hormones in Peri-menopause.

Just know that you are not alone in your symptoms or your feelings. Women across the globe are struggling with this very same rite of passage. It is completely natural to feel frustrated and confused by the symptoms you are experiencing, as well as, feeling frustrated by the lack of helpful information available to you. The old-school advice, “Eat less and exercise more”. is not a solution and will do nothing but make your symptoms worse.

The encouraging truth here is that there ARE real and sustainable solutions. You are not destined to live out your life in this state of hormonal havoc. This is not our Mother’s Menopause. We now have the knowledge and tools to reverse, decrease and even eliminate these symptoms so that we can get back to the way we use to feel and look before all this hormonal havoc took over.
